Panagiotis Karagkounis joins the Psypartitions team!
We are thrilled to welcome Dr Panagiotis Karagkounis to the Psypartitions project team – welcome Panos!
Panos joins us fresh from completing his PhD in Humanitarianism and Conflict Response at the University of Manchester. His doctoral thesis was on humanitarianism, refugees, and the making of modern Greece across the first half of the twentieth century, and was just recently awarded the 2026 Manchester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Doctoral Prize – a fantastic achievement!
On the project, Panos will be taking the lead on the first of the three core case studies: the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920s. Building on his existing experience in researching the history of humanitarianism, Panos will be developing a social history of psychiatry in relation to the population exchange, contributing in this way to the project’s core themes of responsibility, experience, and expertise.
Panos is the first post-doctoral research associate to join the project team and will be joined by two other postdoctoral researchers over the rest of the year. Welcome Panos – we are looking forward to working with you!
